Course Description
The course introduces students to the history of EcoArt from the 1960s-70s Land Art movement to contemporary Global EcoArt Activisms. We explore current issues and thematics in environmental and climate art activism— studying the work and practices of artists based in the New Jersey/New York area to those working globally. This class also delves into the current literature on human relationships to nature and the environment including on the topic of climate disaster. The course incorporates intensive arts writing practice and digital curation. Students gain experience interviewing artists and with digital video-making through their participation on this collaborative digital humanities project.
